Kathryn Mahoney is a leadership development professional and President and CEO of Political Capitol Inc. The Company applies innovative development tools that enable experienced leaders to brand their personality attributes and optimize leadership behaviors to influence others. Political Capitol has quickly built up an impressive client base of U.S. Senators, Representatives, and successful business leaders.
Political Capitol’s services include one-on-one consulting, team development, and corporate and public seminars—all based on Kathryn’s groundbreaking techniques to enhance each client’s communication skills, personal brand, decision making, strategic thinking, and leadership effectiveness. A trend setter in the emerging field of leadership development, her innovative practice has enabled the advancement of elected leaders and can be readily applied to senior managers in the private sector. Kathryn’s unique style and real-time feedback techniques maximize learning opportunities and deliver fast results.
Kathryn knows her country, she has visited 44 of the 50 states including living in 6 states plus Canada. Her leadership development training began at an early age. Raised in the home of entrepreneurs and community involved parents, her education in business and politics started at her family’s kitchen table. From childhood to adult, Kathryn has had the unique experience of interacting with international politicians, military officers, entrepreneurs, executives, and community leaders. A world traveler since the age of six, her common sense, cultural savvy, and broad world view were further influenced by studying world banking and finance in Europe, traveling as a student ambassador to Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
In addition to running her fast-growing business, Kathryn is an active community leader. She serves as an adviser to the League of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Government Advocacy Committee efforts in securing state wide insurance coverage for hearing aids, as well as a respected former board member. She trained and advised the grassroots advocacy efforts for Self-help for Hard of Hearing people (SHHH) in the efforts for hearing aid coverage.
Kathryn is a Founding National Partner of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) and serves on the Executive Advisory board. She is the Founding Chair of the Elizabeth Dole Young Entrepreneur Scholarship run through WIPP since 2006. Kathryn designed and implemented the program, as well as heading up the mentoring and advisory program designed for the women in the scholarship program.
Kathryn received the 2007 National Entrepreneurial Award, which honors individuals, associations and companies who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the growth and goals of women-owned businesses, from Women Impacting Public Policy. She has testified before the Small Business Administration on woman's federal procurement ruling and business taxation. Kathryn served as the Tennessee State Chair for the 2008 Rudy Giuliani Presidential Campaign and then appointed as the Tennessee State Chair of the Women for McCain Presidential Campaign.
Kathryn received the 2008 Nashville Business Journal's Women of Influence Award in the area of Mentoring, for her work with entrepreneurs. In August of 2008 Kathryn was recognized as one of Nashville's Rising Stars under 40. She is well known to entrepreneurs throughout the country as a person who is always sharing her resources and connections, helping other entrepreneur's succeed. She believes if you learn something new, it should be shared to all who can benefit from the knowledge, because in the end we all benefit.
